All-Century
Gayle Hatch has been named to theNorthwestern State University's
All-Century Basketball Team, spanning the dawn of the program 1912-13 through the
2012-2013 season. Hatch set numerous records while playing for Northwestern
including a single game fg% (18-21) in a 44 point outing against 3rd ranked
KentuckyWesleyan in 1961. That still stands as a school and Louisiana State College
record and also ranks as one of college basketball's all time best. Hatch
played High School ball at Baton Rouge Catholic HighSchool where his 37 points and 24
rebounds in the 1957 State Semi-finals is still the best double/double in LHSAA top
classification history. Hatch averaged 34.5 points and 22.5 rebounds throughout the state
play-offs. Hatch went on to serve as Men's Head Coach of 2004 US Olympic
Weightlifting Team.
