Hatch's Battle Against Steroids

1990 Gayle Hatch helped Congressman Richard Baker add anabolic steroids to Schedule III of the Controlled Substance Act in the Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 1990.

1989 Gayle Hatch's proposal to the Louisiana Legislature to add anabolic steroids to the list of schedule II drugs and make it a felony to distribute or dispense steroids without a prescription was approved. The bill was sponsored by Senator Mike Cross of Baker and Richard Neeson of Shreveport.

1990 The United States Weightlifting Federation approved a proposal by Gayle Hatch to start out-of-competition random drug testing. Members of both the National Senior and National Junior Squads are subjected to random selection without notification throughout the year.
