Tim Mack won the men's pole vault at the Olympic trials in Sacramento before winning the Olympic Gold Medal in Athens with a clearance of 5.95 meters/19-6.25, a new Olympic record.  Mack credits much of his success to the Gayle Hatch strength training program which he began in 1994 when he entered the University of Tennessee.  Mack graduated from UT with a bachelor's in Education and continued his studies at UT earning his masters in Human Performance and Sports Studies.  Mack's pole vaulting coach is Jim Bemiller.
